Join us over Easter for an extended yoga and hiking break over 4 nights with yoga and hiking each day.
For this break we are also offering yoga classes tailored to ability : beginners/gentle or intermediate level.

Easter is a wonderful time to visit the Lake District.  The temperature is usually ideal for walking, the spring daffodils are out and its not too busy.  We are based in Grasmere Independent Hostel which is in a fantastic quiet location, but within an easy walk (400m) of the nearest cosy Lake District pub.  The hostel itself is immaculate, in a wonderful old building, set in lovely grounds and we have it for our exclusive use for this weekend.  The yoga studio is very new and is just across the courtyard from our accommodation.

We have a dedicated modern room for our yoga practice and you will be able to attend 6 classes during this break.

For each yoga slot we are offering two classes  aimed at beginner level and one aimed at a more intermediate level.

We offer two yoga classes on Friday and Saturday with a walk in between through the village and around the lakes and hills. There will also be a yoga class on Sunday and Monday morning before breakfast.

Yoga sessions will generally take place before breakfast and after we return from our walk. The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the afternoon, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body and calm the mind. Yoga and hiking are a good combination, and everyone leaves feeling rejuvenated and re-energised.

The walks in the area are also wonderful and we will be able to do a full circuit of Grasmere Lake and hike beside tumbling streams and waterfalls up to the lovely beauty spot of Easedale Tarn.  There is a such a great choice of spectacular summit walks and scenic walks available and we will choose other equally enjoyable walks for each day.

This Easter break will include 3 guided hikes :

On Friday after yoga and breakfast, we will head into the village, then around the lake to Loughrigg terrace which gives great views back across the lake to the village.  On Saturday we will do a steady walk where we can take in Helm Crag and Easedale Tarn, before returning to the hostel in time for tea & cake and our next yoga classes.  On Sunday we also have a wide variety of high and low level walks to choose from. Alcock Tarn is a wonderful spot with great views and a lovely peaceful location after a bit of a hike up. Also the summit of Loughrigg Fell gives wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and of Grasmere.

These walks are moderate walks by Lake District Standards of about 8-12 miles each day. However, as it is the Lake District, there will be steep and rocky sections and possibly wet and boggy sections. Therefore a good level of fitness is required and boots are strongly advised.

Grasmere Hostel’s extensive facilities include en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen and dining room.

There is a great lounge with fantastic views of the hills which is perfect for relaxing.  Along with a sauna, drying room, bbq patio area and  great location midway between Windermere and Keswick, we have the perfect base for our Lake District yoga hikes break.

Rooms are small dormitory style rooms each with ensuite bathrooms and bedding is supplied (please bring your own towel).

Rooms will be allocated solely male or female.

We also have exclusive use of the hostel for our stay.
